Hospitality Art Project in .pdf

Art affects human emotions, mood, and well-being in different settings, including hospitality. While art has been mentioned in hospitality literature, there is a knowledge gap related to the effects of art on guests’ outcomes. The project aims to examine the effects of different visual art attributes in hospitality settings on guests’ emotions, attitudes, and visit intentions using lab and field experimental design. A mixed-methods approach is used to initially understand the impact of art on guests’ attitudes and behavioral intentions. In the second phase of the project, online experimental design will be applied to examine the effects of different visual art attributes on guests’ outcomes. A Hospitality Art Show and multidisciplinary workshops will be organized in the next phase of the project to examine the effects of visual art attributes on guests’ perceptions and emotional states using surveys and psychophysiological techniques. The project results will be disseminated through the project website, social media accounts, mass-media press releases, and journal publications. The proposed project will contribute to theory and practice by advancing aesthetic principles in hospitality settings and developing practical recommendations for hospitality providers and art professionals.
